Hello! I'm Akshay Mhatre, a results-driven Software Engineer with a Master's in Computer Science. I specialize in ensuring the stability and efficiency of mission-critical, enterprise-level systems through my expertise in AI-assisted development, cloud architecture, and deep backend engineering.
In my current role at Cisco, I function as a key pillar for operational stability, responsible for safeguarding business continuity. My work involves preventing critical system shutdowns by performing large-scale database optimizations, leveraging AI tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate issue resolution, and taking complete ownership of the monthly release cycle for the Pega platform. I am the team's go-to subject matter expert for diagnosing complex issues within Oracle packages and views, ensuring the reliability of critical data programs.
My technical toolkit is built on a foundation of backend development with languages like Java, Python, and Kotlin, and frameworks such as Spring Boot and Next.js. I architect scalable cloud-native applications using AWS, manage a wide array of databases and enterprise systems including Oracle, Pega, MySQL, and MongoDB, and ground my approach in CI/CD practices to ensure efficient and reliable software deployment.
My passion for innovation was recognized when my team won "Winner of the Best Use of Google Cloud" at SF Hacks 2022 for pioneering a multi-language music identification tool. My role involves leveraging AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot to independently develop complex SQL queries for in-depth data analysis, which significantly reduces dependency on the database team and accelerates issue resolution. I also take complete ownership of the monthly release cycle for the Pega platform and provide dedicated on-call weekend support to efficiently debug and deliver timely solutions for urgent technical issues within the Pega environment.

Autograder IntelliJ Plugin is an automated assessment tool developed for CSC 210 – Introduction to Computer Programming. It is an automated assessment tool that will be used for consistent assessment and provide feedback to the students during the development stage before submission showing which test cases pass and why. It provides them with personalized feedback which helps them code better and efficiently. It also provides helpful hints and suggestions that will let them quickly fix any errors they might have in their code. The plugin is easy to use and can be used multiple times to get enough feedback to correct your code.

As an ITS Service Desk student support specialist, I provided first-level IT support to students, faculty, and staff through ServiceNow, phone, and in-person. My responsibilities included responding to IT incidents and requests, managing accounts and passwords, distributing and installing hardware/software, and supporting email and network services. This role offered me hands-on IT support experience while I continued my education, with comprehensive training provided.

Parallelization of Article Analysis
A tools focusing on optimizing the performance of parallel implementations for analyzing articles. By testing different levels of concurrency, it evaluates how runtime is affected by varying the number of threads. The results demonstrate that parallel implementation significantly outperforms linear implementation, with reduced runtime that further decreases as concurrency increases. This high-performance computing approach enhances efficiency, particularly at higher concurrency levels.
